| Grandpa Mao Thanks for always taking care of me ever since you came to live with us. Thanks for always waiting at home for me, and seeing if I was hungry and wanted to eat. Thanks for taking me to Jason's Deli or eating in Chinatown all the time. Thanks for teaching me patience at times when I was almost about to lose it. Thanks for teaching me how to care and love one another. Thanks for marrying grandma, she really is a perfect woman of God. Thanks for all the talks we had about basketball, and your willingness to teach me the importance of shooting even though i know you didn't play that much. Thanks for always worrying about me and my safety, when I should of been the one more concerned with yours. Thanks for teaching me about responsibility and how to be a man. Thanks for being the reason I am the person I am today. I love you. I hope that you all will cherish the time you have with the people you love, and evaluate your priorities in your life. | | |
| So i havent updated in a long time. Since the last time I did, alot of things have happened. I had ALOT of friends visit, which made me really happy, and hopefully everyone had a blast too. I dont have any pictures to show you guys, but im sure you have seen them from their side. But I hope everyone really did have fun, even if I didnt get a chance to see ya'll or hang out much. I dont want to list all the names of ppl. who came, because im afraid I will forget someone, but ya'll know who you are. Hopefully in the future, when i am more settled down, I will be able to have more time and be more flexible to be a better host. Thanks for making it to hang out with me for the past months, see you all in the summer. Also recently we started our basketball season, which has been kinda a disappointment so far, since we have started 0-4. But hey, its still early, and didnt the Mavs and Suns start off like that too? But in the bigger news, in our second game against Dacin, there was a HUGE bench clearing brawl that i am proud to say I participated in, and was front page news worthy. haha, im jk, but i was the second person to rush in there off the bench to try to break the fight up. Anyways, we thought the refs have been missing alot of cheap shots that teams have been throwing at us lately. I got elbowed alot of times and talked to the refs, but they dont listen much to us, since we were the last place team last season. I guess my teammate got too upset at the last elbow and decided to take matters into his own hands. I havent been playing to the potential I know I should be at, maybe I have been putting too much pressure on myself lately. My last game on Sunday, this foreign player, was guarding me, and I was scoring on him at will in the first quarter. Towards the end of the half and second half, I was bricking layups like no other (aka Cwan) just kidding man. But there were at least 6 or 7 layups or shots at the basket that I usually put in, but just kinda rolled around and fell out for some reason. I was REALLY pissed after that game, because I should have scored 30 and possibly led us to our first win of the season, but instead, missed those layups and 4 free throws and ended up with only 12 points. Very disappointing for me. Here is a blog of the recent games along with a video of the fight, and a youtube video with a longer version of the fight. I hope I play better through the rest of the season, thanks for all the support, I hope I dont let ya'll down. http://twhoops.blogspot.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr-9bGF43R4&NR | | |
| 7 Months and counting til I have lived in Taiwan for a continuous year without leaving this country. Which will make it like a year and half since I came to Taiwan. Thanks for all the support that all of you have given me in the past and the encouragment to not give up. I wish I could go back and visit now, but unfortunately mt team will not allow me to leave. They hope that I will be able to get my ID this April so that I can continue to play during the season. As of now, the league has decided to let me play at the start of the season, until Mid. Feb. where I have to show them my ID; however, I do not get my ID until the beg of April, so they may not let me play during that month and a half. The only other option is for my team to consider me as the one foreign player that only our team and 2 other teams are allowed to have (because we were the last 3 places teams in the league). But regardless, they want me to not leave now, so I cant make it home to see and play with all of you. Also, I want to see my grandpa and family very badly too, so please give a shoutout for my grandpa in your prayers and for my situation so that I might be able to take a leave of absence or something. Thanks alot everyone. But since i cant leave until april, I hope you guys will be able to visit me. Also, these famous ppl will be here these couple months, so in case you dont want to come just to see me, there is even more reason to do so. On a side note, I wonder how come all these big stars decide to come to such a little place like Taiwan. I dunno, I just wouldnt have imagined that Taiwan would be their choice to make an appearance.
Kobe, what is Jason Terry doing.....
Missy
bof of dem are coming, i dunno which one i am more excited to see though, prob. young | | |
| This past Sunday, I got to play in a game with some NBA players.
I guess it was not the first time I have got to do that, if you
consider hs/college players that made the NBA that I have played with
before, however it was still pretty exciting and a rare opportunity
that I got. They had Iguodala and Frye on my team(West) and
Mobley on the other team(East) along with like 5 celebrities on each
team and 5 or so SBL players on each team. I guess 6 SBL players
for our team, since I do not fit in either category, but more so the
SBL player. At first, it was really not fair, bc Mobley played in
the first half, and Iguodala and Frye did not, added with the fact that
everyone wants to see the NBA players do crazy stuff, so we didnt play
very hard defense on them, esp. when they were going in for a
dunk. Regardless, they were still freaking good, even if we tried
to play defense on them, it probably wouldnt have made that much more
of a difference. But the East coach decided to play Mobley PLUS
the SBL players whenever only our celebrities were in the
game.........so we were losing by like 15 or so after the first
quarter. I think I shot the ball kinda alot, but at least I had a
pretty high percentage. Anyways, me and this really fast PG from
the SBL brought our team back before the half, and it was all Iguodala
from there. In the second half I think he dunked the ball like 10
times or at least it felt like it. And then Mobley and Iguodala
just started having a 3 point contest from almost halfcourt, I think
only Mobley made the half court shot though. Also, I lost to my
friend Godfrey in the dunk contest, although I think my alley oop was
better than his one handed dunk, only cause Mobley wanted to give a 10,
and Godfrey was the last dunker, and we only had one round, which threw
all of us off. Sorry I do not have any action pictures, but only
pictures from like the pre game and stuff. But you can check out Andy Yu's
xanga for some reference. Overall, it was a pretty fun weekend,
got to eat some fancy dinner for the event, and got alot of free stuff
and a little money. Oh and also one of these Hannspree tv's for
our team winning. It is very overpriced at retail, so Im glad I
get to play with one that was free. We also went to hang out with
the players and cheerleaders at the club one night which was pretty
fun. I have to say Frye is my favorite nig from this event, just
cause he was real talkative and funny and goofy. Iguodala was
kinda cold or maybe just in his own world the whole weekend, and Mobley
was just all over his girl the entire time. Frye told me at the
club, he has a rule, that you have to have a beer in your hand at all
times. I think that guy must have drank like 10 beers by the time
I drank like one, but I bet his tolerance is really good for being so
enormous. Oh and I was gonna buy him drinks since he treated
Godfrey and me to all these beers but he said nah I got it, and pulled
out like 20,000 NT and gave it to the guy and said get whatever
you guys want. What a baller, I almost forgot the fact that these
guys make millions of dollars compared to my hundreds. They
really like Taiwan too, and he told me they stayed
out like every nite until 8 in the morning, crazzyy. They would
go eat dinner and go chill someplace, then go to the club until it
closed around 4 or 5, and then go to KTV and then go and get a
massage. Not sure about the shadyness of the last two, but oh
well. The cheerleaders were alot shorter than I imagined, but
they were also very nice, and became like real talkative and excited
when I told them I was from Texas, yeeeahh. I miss home alot, my
family, all of u, and my boyyys who hate on me and ask me for pictures
of girls all the time and call me a liar, but
looks like I wont be able to come home until at least next April,
sigh. Ya'll are probably tired of reading this junk, so here is
some non action/ boring pictures with the guys/girls
.

Iguodala throwing the duece

what a giant friendly monster

Texas girls.....San Antonio Spurs, I wish Eva had come tooo

I almost wore my new Rockets jersey, but then I remembered it was McGrady

Group picture, nice fairly new stadium that we cannot play in yet for
the regular season because it is too expensive to rent out for the
entire season

Oh and Harry the Hawk was there too, he was kinda funny, I guess he was
the only affordable mascot to come, since he is the mascot from the
worst team in the NBA, and Frye wore this Chinaman hat like the entire
time.....
Thats all i have, except for some videos at the club of them dancing
and stuff and my dunk contest, but I think those videos are too big to
upload sorry.

| Alot of bs, but we'll see how this goes. For those wanting to practice Chinese, http://udn.com/NEWS/SPORTS/SPO2/3400733.shtml
We are currently on a summer vacation for basketball right now. We just got off this past Wednesday nite to start our break. Too bad we start practice again this coming Monday nite. A BIG 5 days off!! I guess its better than nothing. But I know once we get back to practice in July, we will be running like 5000 km every morning at 630 and then extending our practices at nite to 3 hours. This is overseas basketball for you kids out there, its not just shooting horse, or playing pick up, this is straight taiwan bball, run until you throw up or cant move anymore. I realized lately, that you really have to have a love for the game or you wouldnt do all of this to play. It is definitely not for the money though, unless you are in the NBA I guess. So I guess I do have a love for the game, but once that passes whenever that is, I guess I will move on to something new. But as of now, I will continue to run and work on my game until Im satisfied with this stage of my career.
Speaking of the NBA, on July 14-16th I believe, the NBA will be hosting an event here in Taipei. I think there will be games and events for kids during these couple days, should be fun to go to. There is also a party they will be hosting for the participants on the nite of the 15th. There will be cheerleaders from the Spurs there I believe, good ol Texas girls. That will make me think of all of you back home. I will be playing in a 5 on 5 game with these 6 celebrity guys and a couple other players to make up around 15-20 players. Also, the main attraction will be the appearance of these three nigs. I hope I am not on a poster coming soon, such as Kobe below.
Iguodala, aka backboard dunk.

Channing Frye, dat boy is long
And my favorite, former Rocket/Francis' buddybuddy

Cuttinoooo
Alright here is a cooler picture of him

Anyways, if you guys come during that time to Taiwan, let me know, and I can try to find some tickets to the game and events. I think there will be drawings for some plasma screen tvs as well, although im not sure you will be able to bring it on the plane with you home. I got storage at my house though
